All the Stick It to the Stickman Modes
Stick It to the Stickman modes have grown far beyond the original tower climb. The store page promises that you unlock new workers and game modes as you increase shareholder value, and the 1.0 update delivered the biggest roster yet. Whether you want a classic run, a history lesson, or a build-your-own-office sandbox, there is a mode for you.
This guide walks through every mode documented in the saved sources: the main Finance Tower, its day and night shifts, the expansion modes, the Level Builder, and the modes the developers teased but did not finish. Think of the stick it to the stickman modes as a portfolio: the tower is your core run, the expansions are side gigs, and the builder is your own corner office. Start with the official Steam page for the full feature list, which includes single-player, split screen co-op, Steam Workshop, Steam Cloud, a level editor, and Remote Play Together.
The Main Mode: Finance Tower
The Finance Tower is the first and main area of the game, as the community wiki puts it. It is a 2D side-scrolling brawler where the goal is to climb the corporate ladder, advancing through floors of coworkers, and beat the current CEO to become the new CEO. Along the way you earn XP by firing coworkers to upgrade your moves, and each run pays out currencies that raise the company's value and unlock tower upgrades, more characters, and harder floors with better rewards.
The tower has two shifts, and a Shift Selector popup appears once you unlock the night shift. The day shift is the standard mode with 16 unlockable characters, and the night shift offers 8 unlockable characters of its own. Before a day shift run, a Wage Selector appears with three difficulty options: Barely-livable-wage, I-am-not-eating-dinner wage, and Why-am-I-even-working wage.
A developer hotfix also fixed an awkward lock: players are no longer forced to only play Night Shift. Each floor is randomized and can be affected by the expansions you made before starting the run, so two runs of the same stick it to the stickman modes can feel quite different. After you beat the CEO, you stand face to face with the shareholders, who offer the choice to expand the company or be fired, and every run feeds currencies back into tower upgrades.
| Shift | Characters | How it starts | Difficulty pick |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day shift | 16 unlockable | Asleep at your desk, two coworkers to your right | Three wage options |
| Night shift | 8 unlockable | Dozing at your desk, two coworkers nearby | Same structure |
Expansion Modes: Foreign Manufacturing and Company History Month
Foreign Manufacturing is a separate game mode unlocked through the Stockmarket, announced by Free Lives as a corporate expansion into foreign territories. The official news post lists thrilling stories of vengeance, gentrification, and avoiding labour laws, plus 5 new Archetypes, new twists on buildcraft and ranged weaponry, and new enemies in unique locations. A later update added two more archetypes: the Ninja, a backstabbing fighter with a teleport instead of a slide, and the Negotiator, armed with bags of cash and some very strong language.
Company History Month is a 2D stickfighting game mode that explores the rise of the Founder from an orphaned newborn to the greatest businessman of our times. The developers joke that playing it is mandatory for all employees, since the Founder's origins are core to brand alignment strategy. It is the closest thing the game has to a story mode.
| Mode | What it is | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Foreign Manufacturing | Overseas expansion with 5+ archetypes and new enemies | Unlocked through the Stockmarket |
| Company History Month | 2D stickfighting story of the Founder | Announced as a new game mode |
| Neurolink | Brain-chip implants that summon telekinetic artillery | Joined the roster in 1.0 |
The Neurolink deserves a closer look because the store page frames it as installing completely safe brain-chip implants that let you summon telekinetic artillery with your mind. The 1.0 launch news is even more direct: the near-final update includes the ultimate boss fight at the bottom of a billionaire's bunker, and it also includes the Neurolink gamemode, which, in the developers' words, is going to blow your mind.
Level Builder and the Workshop
The Level Builder is the big sandbox addition, and the official update notes describe it as putting the Financial Tower in your hands. You can customize enemies and coworkers from their attacks to their size, clothes, and voice lines; customize your stickman's moves, weapons, and abilities; and decorate your workplace, from explosives in risky areas to seven adjacent toilets for team building. Creations can be shared through the Steam Workshop, and .glb files can be imported as props.
A starter guide written by someone at Free Lives lays out the practical rules. A complete level needs two things: a Player Spawner and a Rooftop, with rooms flowing Below Ground, Ground Floor, Above Ground, then Rooftop. The same guide notes three limitations at launch: Level Builder is currently only available in English, creating levels requires a keyboard and mouse, and Level Builder levels are not currently available for 2 players. Company History Month news later confirmed that Level Builder localization has been completed.
Modes That Never Shipped
The 1.0 launch news is refreshingly honest about what did not make it. The developers say game modes they teased, like the Marketing Department, the Robot Takeover of Fulfilment, the Science Center and Employee Evaluation Trials, would have taken another year or more to finish, and it was time for the team to move on. The robots were once a greenlit project titled Rise of the Machines, so a future stickman uprising is not impossible, but as of October 3, 2026 none of these modes exist in the game and the developers have not announced plans to revisit them.
| Teased mode | Status as of the 1.0 news |
|---|---|
| Marketing Department | Not finished, would have taken another year |
| Robot Takeover of Fulfilment | Not finished, teased as Rise of the Machines |
| Science Center | Not finished |
| Employee Evaluation Trials | Not finished |
